The Tokyo Marathon 2027, one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, offers runners the chance to experience one of the world's most iconic races in the heart of Japan.

Every year, tens of thousands of runners from around the globe gather in Tokyo to take on this unforgettable marathon. The course takes participants past many of the city's most famous landmarks, blending Tokyo's rich history, modern architecture, and vibrant neighborhoods. Known for its outstanding organization, enthusiastic spectators, and unique cultural atmosphere, the Tokyo Marathon is a truly unforgettable race experience.

    1. The official time will be measured from the starting gun.

    2. There are some Cut-off points for traffic control, security, and race operations.

    3. Participants who fail to reach a cut-off point by the designated time, or who fall significantly behind the race pace at any point on the course, will be removed from the race and will not finish.

As these are guaranteed entries (versus lottery, Wanda Age Group, etc), the Tokyo Marathon 2027 will not refund, defer or allow for a cancellation under any circumstance. Purchasing applicable insurance (see below) and cancelling for an insurable reason will prevent you from losing your deposit and payments and will cover these fees as well.

Fee Schedule

If you cancel and we can resell your package, the following fees will apply:

  • 15% of what you have paid if cancelling 120 days or more prior to registration closing

  • 25% of what you have paid if cancelling between 14 and 119 days prior to registration closing

  • 50% of what you have paid if cancelling 13 days or les prior to registration closing

  • 100% of what you have paid if cancelling after registration has closed or at any time if we are unable to resell your package.

The difference between what you paid and the fee listed above will be held as a credit for you for 24 months from the time you made your last payment for this particular package. Credits may only be used for trips/packages listed on our website.

Registration is expected to close in (Mid November 2026).

Why We Charge Fees

We purchase guaranteed Tokyo Marathon 2027 entries in advance at significant cost, and they are non-refundable and non-transferable. If a participant cancels, we must find a replacement, process the transfer, pay applicable change and banking fees, and dedicate staff time to re-advertise and re-register the entry. As a result, a cancellation fee is required to offset these costs.

Purchasing applicable insurance (see below) and cancelling for an insurable reason will prevent you from losing your deposit.

Insurance

With paid insurance, you may submit a claim for eligible insurable reasons, including running injuries while training! Claims require a doctor's letter and supporting documentation and are subject to review and approval by the insurance provider's evaluator. For even greater flexibility, you may be able to purchase Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage with select policies. To qualify, CFAR coverage generally must be purchased within 72 hours of making your initial trip deposit and is subject to the insurer's eligibility requirements and terms.

Note: Many credit cards often provide limited trip cancellation coverage and may not be sufficient for the full cost of your trip or your reason.

What are the minimum four nights we have to stay?
The four included nights are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Is my race entry guaranteed?
Yes, we are an authorized tour partner of this race and only sell guaranteed entries.

Are these prices in CAD and how can I pay?
Prices are in Yen to avoid having to mark up the packages in case of a fluctuation in the exchange. However, you may pay in CAD.

What is the time limit for this race?
7 hours. However, all runners need to be maintain a certain pace in order to avoid being pulled from the course.

What happens if I take more than the limit?
Runners that are not able to complete the course on time will not be able to finish, will receive a DNF (Did Not Finish) and will not receive a medal.

Do I have to pick up my race bib myself, or can someone do that for me?
Runners must pick up their own bib and no one, including family members or Dream Travel Canada staff members, are permitted to pick up your bib on your behalf. That said, it is highly recommended that you fly in earlier rather than later in case of flight delays or cancellations.

Can I stay at a different hotel?
We have a contract with our hotel meaning that we can only permit runners to stay at the authorized hotel listed above.

Can I collect hotel loyalty points?
Hotels do not offer loyalty points for group bookings, however, you can still ask the front desk to add your loyalty number at check in and the hotel will give you points/credit for all incidental charges.

How do I get to the start line and back to the hotel after the marathon?
The group hotel is steps from the starting line. For Dream Travel Canada runners and officially registered spectators, a bus from the finish line back to the hotel is included in your package.

I need to cancel; can you help me?
This really depends on when you cancel and whether or not you purchased the correct insurance.  If you purchased insurance and are cancelling for an included reason, or you purchased the CFAR insurance, then you can cancel at any time but you must let us know as soon as you need to cancel to avoid receiving a DNS (Did Not Start). If you did not purchase insurance, then it’ll depend on when you cancel and if we can resell your package.  Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do everything we can to assist you!

Is airfare included?
Airfare is not included.
