Dream Travel Canada is proud to bring you packages to the 2026 Shanghai Marathon! This event is expected to become an Abbott World Marathon Major in 2027!
The 2026 Shanghai Marathon will take place on December 6 in the very heart of this exciting city! Join us as Dream Travel will be onsite for this event!
If you’re looking to run a flat, fast course, this is your event! The course boasts a net downhill overall so this may be your event to run a Personal Best!
2026 marks our 23nd year providing guaranteed entries and escorting runners and spectators to races of all distances around the world! We’re glad that you are considering running this phenomenal marathon with us!

Anyone who will be 20 or older on Sunday, December 6th, 2026 and is a resident of Canada.
If you are not Canadian you must obtain permission from us before registering.
We are not permitted to sell to anyone holding a Chinese, Taiwan, Macau or Hong Kong passport.

*2 Runners Sharing – A package for a couple or two friends, both of whom are running with entries from Dream Travel and sharing one room. Price is per person.
*1 Runner/1 Non Runner – A package for either someone traveling on their own and wants their own room, or, one runner and one additional person in the room who either is not running or already has an entry via the lottery or time qualification. As these are guaranteed entries (versus lottery, Wanda Age Group, etc), the Shanghai Marathon will not refund, defer or allow for a cancellation under any circumstance. That said, our policy needs to be as such:
There is no deferral option, however, you may cancel your package for a credit, but only if we are able to resell your entry package and only if it’s prior to registration closing.
Why We Charge Fees
We must pre-purchase a large number of guaranteed, non-refundable, non-deferable entries from the Shanghai Marathon in advance and at a substantial cost and when someone commits to an entry and then cancels, we then have to try and resell the entry, pay the marathon a name change fee, cancel the hotel room (if possible) and most-likely pay them a fee, re-advertise, re-register someone else, pay staff to handle all of that, and then there are the sizeable bank fees. Therefore, we charge a fee when cancelling as it costs us substantially.
Purchasing applicable insurance (see below) and cancelling for an insurable reason will prevent you from losing your deposit and payments and will cover these fees as well.
If you cancel and we can resell your package, the following fees will apply:
15% of what you have paid if cancelling 120 days or more prior to registration closing
25% of what you have paid if cancelling between 14 and 119 days prior to registration closing
50% of what you have paid if cancelling 13 days or les prior to registration closing
100% of what you have paid if cancelling after registration has closed or at any time if we are unable to resell your package.
The difference between what you paid and the fee listed above will be held as a credit for you for 24 months from the time you made your last payment for this particular package. Credits may only be used for trips/packages listed on our website.

With paid insurance you will be able to cancel for insurable reasons as well as running injuries (doctors letter required) while training! Note that your credit card most-likely does not have nearly enough coverage! OR get CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason) coverage with certain policies from us when you purchase your coverage within 72 hours of placing your initial deposit!

What are the four nights we have to stay?
The four included nights are Thursday December 3rd, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, checking out on Monday December 7th.
Is my race entry guaranteed?
Yes, we are an authorized tour partner of this race and only sell guaranteed entries.
Are these prices in CAD?
Prices are in USD but you may pay by credit card in CAD or USD, by Wise in CAD or USD or by e-transfer in CAD. If paying in CAD we will convert and apply your payment to USD.
What is the time limit for this race?
6 hours and 15 minutes
What happens if I take more than the limit?
Normally this is not an issue, but ultimately it will depend on the Shanghai Marathon and how much extra time you take. Runners who take longer than the official time are not guaranteed a race medal, but usually receive one.
Do I have to pick up my race bib myself, or can someone do that for me?
Runners must pick up their own bib and no one, including family members or Dream Travel staff members, are permitted to pick up your bib on your behalf. That said, it is highly recommended that you fly in earlier rather than later in case of flight delays or cancellations.
Can I stay at a different hotel?
We have a contract with our hotel meaning that we can only permit runners to stay at the authorized hotel listed above.
Can I collect hotel loyalty points?
Hotels do not offer loyalty points for group bookings, however, you can still ask the front desk to add your loyalty number at check in and the hotel will give you points/credit for all incidental charges.
How do I get to the start line and back to the hotel after the marathon?
The hotel is walking distance to the Start and you can use your included Metro card to return from the Finish area to the hotel.
Do you have triple or quad rates?
Most-likely yes but will ultimately depend on the hotel’s availability and room types. Please contact us for rates.
I need to cancel; can you help me?
This really depends on when you cancel and whether or not you purchased the correct insurance. If you purchased insurance and are cancelling for an included reason, or you purchased the CFAR insurance, then you can cancel at any time but you must let us know as soon as you need to cancel. If you did not purchase insurance, then it’ll depend on when you cancel and if we can resell your package. Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do everything we can to assist you!
